Fashion Icons, Part I: It's Diane von Furstenberg's world, we just live in it...

"She always knew she would find her way through the raindrops... the mystery, the unknown, the infinite possibilities of a foreign affair."

...and i love patterns. prints. ties. bows. i simply cannot get enough of Miss Diane von Furstenberg.

styles available at Nordstrom this season... I would wear the black dress pretty much every time I needed to feel a little grown up, and the pink dress on every other occasion.

some vintage, some new DvF (all found on ebay! wonderful!)

of course, her wrap dresses are classic. her prints are incredible (sometimes bordering on ridiculous). she has a flair for the organic, the overt but not outrageously feminine. i am constantly in awe, and i don't own nearly enough from her portfolio.

Bienvenue!

I like to shop, and I haven't been able to do much of it lately, so I figure I can write about it, thereby helping me get over the fact that I can't partake.

I'm not much on talking about myself, but if you want to read about my take on style, I suppose I have to break it (me?) down for you. I'm a bit artsy, a tad indie, mostly vintage; my fashion choices wander the fine line between hideous and fabulous. It's more about being confident and blissfully oblivious than about spending lots of cash (although I do love that...). Thrift stores gems dominate my closet, prints, patterns, scarves, mountains of jewelry, more dresses than Jackie O and a hundred pairs of sunglasses.
Welcome to the Kelley School of Shopping...

1. you can fix anything. tailor it, clean it, cut it up and make it a purse, figure it out...
2. no matter what, you can never have too many dresses. you will always look like a lady!
3. brown and black, gold and silver... not so bad.
4. for god's sake, match your sunglasses.
5. quality denim is worth the money (just make sure the fit is good).
6. go vintage! nothing is classier than your grandmother's gucci. (not sure if it works? it's probably kitsch, and i love that too. just make it work)
